Morgan Dana Harrington, 20, of Roanoke, Virginia, went missing from a Metallica concert in Charlottesville on Saturday. The venue was on or near the UVA campus. Apparently, she left the arena for some reason -- maybe to get something from her car. In any event, she got separated from her friends and never returned for the concert. Her purse was found in the parking lot. Her ID and her cell phone, with its battery removed, were in it. It sounds very much like an abduction, but it could also be a voluntary disappearance. So far, nobody knows of any reason why she'd want to disappear. She's a junior at Virginia Tech majoring in education, daughter of a doctor. Other than her purse, searchers haven't found any trace of her.

There still hasn't been a trace of this young woman. Apparently, she for some reason left the arena before the Metallica concert and, per policy, they wouldn't let her back in. Her friends say she called them from outside -- though how you could hear a cell phone ring with heavy metal music blaring I don't know -- and told them she'd either get a ride home (and we're talking about 150 miles) or meet them after the concert. There was no sign of her after the concert, so the friends went home without her. There "may" have been a sighting of her on a bridge, indicating that she had set out walking. That leads to thoughts of hitchhiking, getting grabbed, falling off the bridge, getting hit by a car... But that doesn't explain why her purse and cell phone, sans battery, were found in an isolated parking lot at the concert venue. It's very baffling.
